Return
1. The church has been waiting
for His return for two thousand years. Should we keep on fooling ourselves that
He will eventually return?
Everything Jesus had predicted came true: His
death, resurrection and ascension, as well as the outpouring of the Holy Spirit
and the world-wide expansion of the church. His word of honor is beyond any
doubt. In no uncertain terms He said to His disciples that He is going to
prepare a place for them, and will come back to take them to that place (John
14:1-3).
2. Will there be any signs
that His return is imminent?
He gave us those signs in Matthew 24, Mark 13
and Luke 21. While it is true that some of those signs have been there for
twenty centuries (meaning that His return has been imminent all the time), it is
also true that those signs have been increasing dramatically the past fifty
years. Jesus said that those signs will be like birth pains: increasing in
frequency and intensity in the end time. In the parable of the ten virgins He
predicted that He would be delayed, and that the church would fall asleep.
However, if we have the oil of the Spirit in our hearts (faith and love) we will
be able to join the wedding feast of the Lamb and His bride.
